Former Group Executive - Mastercard
Joan Kelly recently retired as Group Executive, Enterprise Security Solutions for MasterCard Operations & Technologies. In this role, she was the Chief Information Officer responsible for Enterprise Fraud related products, Authentication Services including biometrics and decision management platforms.
Prior to this role, she was senior vice president, Global Systems Delivery, a role that included overseeing the data warehouse, authorization, clearing, financial systems, Internet development, risk, member parameter systems, corporate products, rewards, and development support. She managed systems delivery in over four continents in this position. Ms. Kelly earlier served as senior vice president, Systems Strategy. In this position, she was responsible for the Systems Enhancement Strategy (SES) and legacy project strategies. The SES initiative was a global, multi-year effort to upgrade core processing systems, leverage advances in hardware and software technology, and deliver new functions, greater speed, and new levels of flexibility in processing to members, creating a stronger competitive edge.
Ms. Kelly was with MasterCard for 24 years. Prior to joining MasterCard, she was at British Telecom, where she managed their Electronic Data Interchange development and service delivery. Previous to this, she held multiple management and technology positions at McDonnell Douglas.
Ms. Kelly was recognized as one of the Top 100 Women Leaders in STEM, by the STEMconnector organization in 2012. She was named as one of U.S. Banker Magazine’s ‘Top 25 Nonbank Women in Finance’ in 2008 and named among Bank Technology News’ Innovators in Financial Services in 2008. In the community, she has served on the board of Washington University Center for the Application of Information Technology, Fontbonne University, and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
